Brief Overview:
This
learning scenario and plan is set up to introduce the learner to something
new. A Web 2.0 tool, called Go Animate,
that can be utilized in their day to day life or classroom/education
environment. I will incorporate small groups and give self- explanatory
instructions.
Target Audience:
Adult
Students/Teachers
Objectives:
Identify how Go Animate can be vital to
differentiated instruction.
Create an Animation from start to finish.
Critique and Praise the group’s animations.
Collaborate and share ideas via chat and commenting
through Facebook.
Procedure:
·
Next,
Sign up for a free “Go Animate” account (Very simple)
·
A
short tutorial will then pop up. Go
through the tutorial and then get ready to create your first animation with “Go
Animate”.
·
Create
an animation that focuses on the theme “Motivation”. Choose your characters and your voice
style. This Animation should be no longer
than 2 minutes and a minimum of 45 seconds.
·
Make
sure the story/animation has a purpose, that includes a beginning, middle, and
end.
·
Save
when you are all finished.
·
Publish
and Post to Facebook when you are finished saving.
·
Comment
on someone else’s video and critique the author (me) regarding instructions or
procedures.
·
Post
a mini-paragraph describing your experience and analyze the tool. Would you use “Go Animate” as a teaching
tool? For personal use? Why or Why not?
·
This
should be something fun! Let your creativity and imagination take over.
Emergent Technology:
“Go Animate” is a Web 2.0 Tool that allows any individual with
creativity to create an animation. If
you ever had an idea of a short movie a short commercial, that involved a story
and animated characters, but you felt like you did not have the resources to
make it happen. Well “Go Animate” is simple to use and it allows you to be
creative. You do not have to worry about
downloading anything!
Social Participation/Learning:
The
social participation will be provided via Facebook. The selected adult/students/ teachers will go
to the link provided below and collaborate.
The group will be offered an opportunity to post comments, provide
feedback, and ask the creator of the group questions.
Making Connections:
This
learning scenario must offer opportunities for the adult learner to
collaborate, explore, and to integrate technology on another level. Identify how connections are made and how
these connections inspire production and higher levels of learning.

PE5_Go Animate
Go Animate had a lot of features that allows the user to create a video animation. I was impressed about the automatic save. I also thought the voice chat/record tools. The voice to text tool is probably one of the greater options for Go Animate. This function allowed me to type in text that converted to an actual voice. I was able to choose the voice and accent. I thought that was very cool!
I played around with characters and I chose a character for my cartoon. I matched the character with the voice, that was just self-explanatory to do. I've listed below a short video I created. I actually created a longer video as well with more characters, but I accidently erased the video, before saving it. I still have to work out the kinks and learn the best way to save the animations. This will be important to know, especially when I am explaining this tool to my students.
This was the second background I chose. I actually added more characters and I used the character tool to select more characters. I also used the selection tool on the left to create another background for another scene.

Go Animate is going to be the tool I explore for my RILS Project. I am interested in learning how to produce animations and add them to my projects or my students projects. This tool is very intriguing to me. It is user friendly and it allows room for error. I will list a few screen shots that documented my learning process.
I would like to actually use Go Animate to allow my students to produce an animation and implement it for their school video projects. I would like for them to incorporate an animation with the weekly student news show.
This is how the actual website for Go Animate look. I chose this tool because I do not know how to use animation with a professional software. This screen shot displays the sign up information. I had to list my username and password information here.
This is the welcome page for Go Animate. I took a picture of this page, because I was not sure if my username and passwords were accepted. I did not think this portion of the website was as user friendly as I expected.

This was the first scene I created for my cartoon. The green arrow on the screen allows you to select a new scenery or background. I chose this background because I wanted to do a cartoon about the teacher's lounge. This was perfect and it allowed me to play around with the actual mini script I created.

The new tool I chose to explore is called, "YooWalk". I've never heard of YooWalk until day. This was the coolest thing ever to discover. By looking at the name of this website, I had no clue to what it entailed. When I launched the site; I was amazed at the creativity and implementation of interactivity on this site.
YooWalk is a platform that allows you to walk through sites in a virtual capacity. This tool reminds me of Second Life. You are able to chat with other browsers and you literally walk with an avatar of choice through various exhibits, websites, and stores.
I am just excited that I found YooWalk, because I could really utilize this in my classroom. I could actually show my students how to utilize the virtual capabilities to literally go to websites, I would also share with them how to chat and interact with other customers and researchers. Then I would have the students blog about their experience. This will be a way for them to use the computer, internet, and their cognitive skills to explore the site and its many 3D dimensions.
When you log onto YooWalk the site looks like this. It is so cool, you actually walk through the blocks listed, by selecting your cursor and pointing to the area or site selected. When you enter the site, you walk into the site and basically take a tour, by walking through the site. You are informed by pictures and text, depending on what site you go to.

Michael Jackson Tour
This was the first site/tour I walked through. I thought it was the most futuristic thing ever. I was attracted by the colors and the various pictures of Michael Jackson first. Then I entered the site and walked through with my Avatar. I selected an Avatar and a username that is associated with my Avatar. The walk through of this site, Michael Jackson's to be exact, was the most exciting to me. It is set up like a museum exhibit. I loved how it was set up; I really felt like I was at a museum. I definitely can see how this could be a great addition to a lesson for my students. My students are so excited about technology, virtual worlds, and colors.

My Certificate of Completion
This Certificate was awarded to me for completing the Essential Training 11' IMovie Course. Once, I completed the course and finished my surveys after the training, My Certificate was in The My Training section in my account. It is exciting to actually get awarded for a course online or a tutorial based course. I will continue to sharpen my skills and use this certificate on my resume and portfolio.
Please Check out this link. I tried to embed my video but I had the slowest internet connection. I wanted to share a video that I edited and created in Imovie. I used second life as a tool and I also edited with Imovie. I used backgrounds from Imovie and title features directly from Imovie. I also added music from my Itunes library. Click on the link of copy and paste the link to your browser window. Thanks and Enjoy!!

Trailers
This was a very good part of the Lynda.com tutorial. I have always seen the themes and trailer templates, while working on various projects. I never took the time to learn how to use this feature. I can't wait to explore using trailers. This action shot below is apart of the background process for selecting specific footage for a trailer. You select the clips you will use, then you select the type of style trailer you will use. You also have to select the amount of Cast members that will be included in your trailer. Your Trailer is also organized by how you select the type of fonts you will use for titles, your music, and your credits. The credits are produced and selected in the initial phase. What I like about the trailer feature, everything is set up, you have to incorporate what you want in the beginning, based off of what footage you have.
My Progress
The Screen Shot directly above documents my progress at that time. I had went through almost half of the tutorial at this point. I was excited to grasp new concepts and to reiterate what I've learned through practice and previous instruction as well. The red markers on the left hand side, indicates what I've viewed and the the unchecked lessons represents what I had to open and view. I like how this actual course was organized, because if the videos were just random, it would have been hard to keep up and stay consistent with what I was learning.
Text/Cast Info
This is a screen shot of the template used for the trailer. The Original name on the right is replaced with the Cast member that you select or the editor selects. Also, on the left side you are able to see where the Outline is selected. This is where you input the Cast, Credits, Introduction, you decide if you want to use the storyboard style or the shot list style. Either style is your preference. I will definitely start incorporating trailers from IMovie with some of my projects. I will also teach my students how to work proficient with trailers.

IMovie is an excellent Editing Tool. I've used IMovie quite frequently. Although, I love Final Cut Pro, my interest for IMovie has truly increased. Especially since I've been in The EMDT Program. My main editing tool of choice has been IMovie. I just recently had the opportunity to complete the training from Lynda.com "IMovie Essential Training 11". This course was very informative and I really enjoyed the author and his method of teaching.
The funny thing about this particular course on Lynda.com; I already had the opportunity to take this course. The first time I viewed the course, it was not as relevant to me as this time. I really feel like I connected with the lesson and I was inspired to put some of the tools and features to use. (This just goes to show, sometimes the first time doing something is just a run through)
I will document a few of the things learned in a few post. Some things I had a good grasp of, but others I just grabbed hold of the concept.

Organizing Clips
Organizing Clips in IMovie is very necessary. When I've edited in the past; I've noticed that it takes longer to edit or finalize a project, if the clips are not organized. This Screen shot displays how to select clips and place them in the necessary event folders. Organizing Events is essential as well. If your event is organized and properly labeled, its easier to access the file and clips when they are needed for viewing purposes or just to edit.
Green Screen
I really enjoyed this part of the course. I was able to learn how to implement using "Green Screen" while editing with IMovie. I was not aware of how simple this process was. The author did say its important to have good lighting while using a green screen, but its not necessary to get the effect during editing. He also mentioned being creative with green screen. It is not necessary to have an expensive green screen, you can paint a green screen on a wall. This screen shot shows the b-roll clips and the actual shots with green screen. You have to select the advanced tools and it is important to super impose the shots onto the green screen at a similar duration.
I am excited to know how to use this feature. I will definitely play around with the green screen feature in IMovie from now on.
More Green Screen Info
I took another screen shot of the green screen tutorial. This might have been one of the tutorials that intrigued me the most. As you see on this screen shot, the selection tool for the green screen is selected. The shot of the background trees is in the viewer and the two clips, the trees, and green screen are both on the timeline. When the green screen is selected it merges the two clips together or super imposes them to create an effect. The gentleman in this shot appears to be in front of the trees when the green screen effect is applied.

BP3_APPMAKR
The Tool I chose was called, "APP MAKR". This tool shows you how to create your own APP, mainly for the IPhone and some Droid Phones. I was intrigued by this Tool, because I've been wanting to learn how to create my own APP.
The first page for APP Makr. I selected Android for my APP. I also selected the type of APP I wanted to create. I created an APP for coupons. This is where I started that process.
This was the last step for creating an APP. The last page that I had to work on. After going through the various tabs, I created The APP. I had to put in information, URL name, I had to decide if I was going to sell the APP or let it be a Free APP. I also plugged in a description of my APP. I had the option to customize The APP. I did not think this was the most user friendly APP. I still can not figure out how to access my APP. I tried to contact the HELP and Support, but I will try to figure out on my own.
The Process was not extremely simple and was not extremely difficult either. It was just a matter of figuring out what to do when trying to access the next steps. First I selected The Web 2.0 Tool, "APP MAKR", Then I started to read what the tool entailed. Next, I started following the directions, and Finally I created my own App.
To Create The APP with APP MAker ; you have to select APP Makr's Web 2.0 tool. Then you have to decide what interface you will use, Iphone or Android. I did those two things, I created my APP by inputing the necessary and required information, including my username, password, email, and URL. I also had to give my phone number as a point of contact. The creative part is when you customize your APP. I did not customize My App. But I did create an app for Coupons and I came up with a catchy name for it. The Name of my created App is, "CouponVendor".
I did like this tool because it challenged me. It was not a tool that had everything preset, I had to do alot of the ground work for myself.
This is how the Actual Process got started. I selected the URL that I used for the creation of the App and I also selected the type of APP I wanted to make and all of these Icons came up.

I've had my IGoogle set up for awhile, but it is amazing how Today is the first time that it clicked to me, that I should really utilize this as a central page daily. I just have to appreciate the simplicity, this will really make my life easier. Below I will show you Screen shots from My IGoogle Experience.
FSO TABS
These tabs make it easier for me to access the FSO Platform. I will really utilize this, I have set up tabs before on IGoogle, from now on; I will be using my tabs to help me better access my FSO emails and portal.

ETC Tabs
The ETC Tabs gives all the information about Emergent Technologies and the class. Web 2.0 Tools, Web Guru, Tutorials, Educator Studio, and ETC Resources. I like this tab because it is informative and it provides majority of the tools needed for this specific class. I do not have to go from archive to archive or I don't have to go back and forth to FSO to look at these tools. I have no choice but to be organized for The ETC class. Especially if I utilize IGoogle and all if my tabs.
